Here are this week’s life pro tips.
01. First thing you should print after purchasing a 3D printer…
Replacement parts for said printer. That way if one piece breaks, you can easily swap it out without having to order a part. Most 3D printers have at least a half dozen parts built from 3D printed parts. Also, make sure that the first thing you print after replacing a part is another one of those parts.
02. When you need to take something apart…
Take photos. This will help guide you back through the assembly. It’s especially useful if you have many steps and parts or if you need to remember where wires and such are connected.
03. If you’re leaving food at work…
Take a bite before you put it in the fridge. If someone is looking for free food and sees that you ate some of it they’ll spare your food. This only works for sandwiches.
04. If you can’t give blood a day or two after a large tragedy…
Wait and donate it a week or two afterward. After all of the people who give that same day, the local banks will likely have enough for a while. But blood only has a “shelf life” of about 40 days. Often people will see that so many people gave recently and will not give a week or two late. This means that, after the shootings, by July 22 or so Orlando blood banks will likely hit a huge low point.
If you haven’t given already, wait until next week and give or the week after. If you have given, you can give again in eight weeks.
05. Write down a short 30 second introduction of yourself…
And memorize it. This way if you are introduced and have to “tell a little about yourself” you will sound a lot more confident. 30 seconds is ideal for an interview/speech type scenario. Any longer and you lose velocity, efficacy, and the listener will tend to not pay as much attention. Your first impression will be significantly better if you nail this introduction – and if you have a canned speech prepared for this scenario you will be amazed at how confident you come across.
