5 Things You Should Know – Part 280

Here are 5 things you should know.

1. If you have a water/ice dispensing refrigerator-freezer and the water is no longer coming out, chances are that the water line is frozen. Put your freezer items in a cooler and leave the door open for a while and the line will defrost.

2. If a website is down and you need it right away, you can view the cached page online.

Google stores a copy of just about every website to be used for indexing and fast search. Fortunately, this also allows anyone to view that site even if it isn’t running.

The easiest way to do this is to go on CachedView.com and enter your website.

I would suggest using the Google Web Cache, as it is stored exactly like the website would be presented to you, rather than something like the Wayback Machine would give you.

This will not work with sending or uploading anything to the site because it isn’t communicating with the real website when you are viewing the cached version. This only allows you to view the website.

3. There is a deadly superbug spreading around the east coast.

The article below shows that a superbug named C. Auris has infected around 700 people from New York down to Virginia:

4. Peace lilies, among other plants, are poisonous to cats and dogs and should make sure you have no plants on this list if you have animals.

Here’s a link to what’s safe and unsafe for animals

5. In most states, you have the right to choose who produces your electricity, which can ultimately lower your monthly bill.

In most states, your electric company is only responsible for the wires to your house. When you sign up to get electricity, by default they give you their own production, it’s generally a reasonable price, but you can do better.

This site has a guide to each state’s energy marketplace.
