Here are 5 things you should know.
1. Why do flight attendants ask you to open the window shades before takeoff and landing?
In addition, they always turn off the lights in the cabin at this time. This is so that the human eye can get used to the level of light outside the cabin. In case of an emergency situation and an urgent need to leave the cabin, it is very important that the person can immediately orient himself to his surroundings outside the plane and not wait for his eyes to become accustomed to bright light or darkness.
2. Addiction doesn’t stop just because you get pregnant or have a child/ren.
People have this idea that if an addict has a child they have to choose the child or drugs and it’s not that simple. People don’t choose drugs over anything. That’s not how addiction works.
If having children was the cure to addiction, everyone would have done it, and sooner, too.
This adds to the stigma of addiction. 9 times out of 10 addicts have faced serious trauma and the addiction is a ‘symptom’ if you will, of that trauma. The addiction is used to get as far away from that trauma as possible.
Instead of spending energy on judging addicts, we should be using that energy to offer resources.
We have a hard time understanding things we haven’t been through. And it’s impossible to know what you would do in a situation you’ve never been in. Please remember that and be kind. There’s ALWAYS more to learn.
3. Cardio fitness is invisible.
A “fit” muscular person might struggle to run 3 miles while an ordinary or “unfit” person might be able to run a marathon in under 4 hours. Cardio fitness, just like bodybuilding, takes years to develop, but unlike muscle development, cardio strength is internal and invisible.
Endurance strength can vary tremendously from person to person. Based on heart rate, one person’s walking pace might be the same effort as someone else running continuous 7-minute miles (4.3min/km).
Never compare your cardio fitness to someone else’s because everyone’s athletic background and genetics are different.
4. Here’s how to have multiple virtual desktops in Windows and how to flip between them really easily.
Multiple desktops are great for keeping unrelated, ongoing projects organized—or for quickly switching desktops before a meeting. To create multiple desktops:
On the taskbar, select Task view > New desktop.
Open the apps you want to use on that desktop.
To switch to another desktop, select Task view again, or hold the cntrl and the windows key down and then use the left and right arrows to shift between them.
5. Air-fried french fries have 70% lesser calories than regular french fries.
Many of us are trying to lose weight and we occasionally crave cheat meals these cravings can sometimes get out of hand. So, replacing regular fries with air-fried is good because you won’t regret eating and you also won’t feel heavy or lazy after eating air-fried french fries.
The same goes for air-fried chicken nuggets, which have 60% lesser calories than regular chicken nuggets.
When it comes to taste, there’s a difference but not much. I’d say that the two air-fried items taste 90% like regular ones. And you get used to them pretty fast.
