2. The meaning of “first cousin,” “second cousin,” and “…once removed.”
Some people simply ignore these distinctions, and everyone is just “cousins” or maybe “uncles and aunties.” That’s totally fine. But if you’d like to use the terms correctly, here it is:
First Cousins
Your first cousins share a grandparent with you. (Rather, a pair of grandparents, in most cases.) Your grandparents’ other grandchildren, besides you and your siblings, are your first cousins. They are the children of your parents’ siblings.
Second Cousins
Your second cousins share a great-grandparent with you, but not a grandparent. All of your great-grandparents’ other great-grandchildren, besides you, your siblings, and your first cousins are your second cousins.
These people are the same generation as you, ancestor-wise. They are the grandchildren of your grandparents’ siblings.
Third Cousins
Your third cousins share a great-great-grandparent with you.
And so on.
Once Removed
This term refers to a separation of one generation. The children of your first cousins are your “first cousins once removed.”
Additionally, your relationship to them (you are the cousin of their parent) is ” the first cousin once removed.” So, your parents’ cousins are your “first cousins once removed.” They are the children of your grandparents’ sibling and the parents of your second cousins.
Twice removed is an additional generation. Your first cousin’s grandchildren are your first cousins twice removed. Your grandparents’ first cousins are your “first cousins twice removed.”

4. Your credit card probably includes free extended warranties, insurance, and other benefits.
In addition to financial perks like cash back, you should know that most credit cards offer a ton of non-monetary perks which automatically apply to any purchase made with that card. These can include:
- Extended product warranties
- Damage / theft protection
- Rental car insurance
- Trip cancellation insurance
- Roadside assistance
You should review the terms and conditions of your card carefully, as these policies vary and may not be as comprehensive as one from a dedicated third-party insurer.
5. How to use an epinephrine pen, it is easy and could save a life.
Different brands may look a little different and are called different things but the steps are the same.
- Remove the cap on the top. Don’t let your thumb/hand block either end of the pen.
- Find the place where you’re going to inject it. It’ll be on the side of their thigh, not the inner side nor upper side. It’ll also be in between their knee and hip. The pen is designed to be used through clothing.
- Feel real quick and make sure you’re not going to inject a phone, pack of cigarettes, etc. People have things in their pockets, this isn’t in the video, however, it is important to make sure you’re going to inject the person rather than an object.
- Place and press ( don’t stab ) the pen until it clicks. This means that the needle is injecting the epinephrine.
- Wait 10 seconds for it to release the whole dose.
- Pull straight out. The needle is long and if you angle it you’re going to really hurt them when you pull it out.
- Rub the area for 10 seconds.
- Call 911 or your local emergency number.
