Sometime back in the 70’s or 80’s, there was something of an “event” where the government advertised that it needed some hundred young men with strong backs. These young men were (under guard) taken to Fort Knox and tasked with moving the gold bricks from one safe to another. Supposedly the idea behind this at the time was to both prove the gold was actually there, and at the same time relocate the gold because one of the safes needed work done on it.
