They were then captured and bought to a Japanese POW camp. When he saw a Japanese guard brutally beating a POW, he intervened and told them he would take the prisoner's beating for him. When he was put in charge of digging trenches, he organized the trenches so that they spelled “U.S.” from the sky, notifying the allies of the POW camp. Antrim received Medal of Honor for his acts of valor.
