Private yachts are the ultimate status symbol of wealth and power and it seems that the theory ‘’the bigger the better’’ holds true for at least some of the rich and powerful. Money certainly is no object for the people who paid for these yachts. So here are the 10 biggest private yachts ever created as measured by length alone.
10. A
Made by Nobiskrug in Germany and with a length of 468 feet 5 inches (143 m) this yacht was first made operational in 2017. Designed by Philippe Starck to look futuristic, she certainly achieves that with windows that look nearly invisible from the outside as well as the world’s tallest free-standing masts. She also has a hybrid diesel-electric propulsion as well as an underwater viewing window inside the keel.
9. El Mahrousa
The Egyptian yacht is state property and was launched way back in 1865. It was built for the Ottoman’s governor of Egypt Khedive Ismail and was later used by the Egyptian monarchy. With a length of 478. 1 feet (145 m) she originally had paddle wheel engines but these were replaced by propellers in 1905. Sir Oliver Lang designed a boat that was used to inaugurate the new Suez canal in 2015.
8. Prince Abdulaziz
With a length of 482 feet 3 inches(147 m), the Danish-designed yacht is owned by the Saudi royal family. At the time of its launch in 1984, it was the largest yacht in the world, having been designed by Maierform. The lobby is rumored to look exactly like the Titanic’s and the rest of the interior was designed by David Nightingale Hicks.

Featuring 2 helipads and a swimming pool, this German designed ship is 483 feet 1 inch(147m) long yacht was launched in 2012. She was formerly known as Topaz but is now rumored to be owned by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed al Nahnan-the same man who owns the Manchester City Football Club.

Owned by the late Sultan of Oman, this yacht has a length of 508 feet(154 m) and she was launched in 2007 by Lurssen, a German company. Sultan Qaboos loved music so that’s why there is a concert hall on board. There are also six decks with the interior designed by Redmond Whitely Dixon in London.
5. Dilbar
Lurssen also made this 511 feet 8 inches (155 m) long yacht that also has the longest swimming pool of any yacht in the world. All that we can say about is that the interior was made from ‘’rare and exclusive materials’’ to quote the builder.
4. Dubai
Sheikh Al Maktoum owns this 531 feet (161 m) long yacht which was originally destined for the Sultan of Brunei. She also has a submarine garage, helipad, and a cinema. She was launched in 2006 by Platinum Yachts.
3. Eclipse
At 533 feet (162 m) she is owned by Roman Abramovich, the same man who owns Chelsea Football Club. She was launched in 2010 by Blohm and Voss in Germany.
2. Fulk Al Salamah
At 538 feet (163 m) this Mariotti Yachts designed yacht from Italy has only had her length estimated by AIS data. It is rumored the Omani royal family own her but this is unconfirmed. What we do know is that she was ordered in 2014.

With a length of 590 feet (180 m) she is by far the largest private yacht in the world. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan owns the Lurssen built yacht which can travel at more than 30 knots and she was launched in 2013.
